Mira Wins Arab Woman Awards UAE 2021
Our entire team is extremely proud to announce that Mira by FBMI has won an Arab Woman Award UAE 2021 under the category of CSR / Social Enterprise!
The Arab Woman Awards were launched in 2009 by ITP Media Group with the aim of positively recognizing and showcasing hardworking, talented and inspiring women from the region. To date, they have awarded over 400 people and The Arab Woman Awards are now held in partnership with UN Women. In 2014, FBMI was nominated for an Arab Woman Award UAE and emerged winner in the humanitarian category, so this is in fact our second success story!
Since the birth of Mira, less than a year ago, our team has been working around the clock to bring this wonderful project to life. Agriculture being an integral part of Afghanistan’s history and cultural identity, we have invested in the exceptional products of independent farmers, by creating an international market to sell them.
The almonds, pistachios, figs and walnuts trees bloom all across the country and the flowers of saffron rise from the fertile Afghan soil. These flowers of hope sustain livelihoods and transform every aspect of society, including the dynamics between men and women.
Currently, 600 female farmers are harvesting saffron in the province of Herat, 1,000 women are handpicking dried fruits across the country, and 42 women are employed in our processing centers. Empowering women has a true ripple effect on society, with over 17,000 indirect beneficiaries of Mira’s initiatives.
We are particularly proud and touched by this recognition of our efforts. We nurture the hope to grow our business and that way, expand our social impact to touch the lives of millions!
